Robotics Engineer
Our robots are industrial arms teaching themselves a craft that has been done by hand for three thousand years. The hard part isn't the hardware — the frames and spindles are mature industrial kit. The hard part is teaching them to sculpt.
You will work on path planning, kinematics, tool behavior, and the feedback loops that make the robots precise enough to handle marble and fine enough to carve detail.
What you'll do
- Own the motion control stack: inverse kinematics, toolpath optimization, collision avoidance, tool changes
- Tune and debug live in the workshop, working alongside our sculptors to iterate on real stone
- Build simulation environments so we can rehearse cuts before touching a €3000 block of marble
- Help select and integrate new hardware as we scale the factory
What we're looking for
- Strong fundamentals in robotics: kinematics, control, path planning
- Experience with industrial robot arms (KUKA, ABB, Universal Robots, Fanuc) is a strong plus
- Comfortable writing production code in Python or C++ and reasoning about real-time constraints
- A stubborn, physical intuition — you learn by touching the thing
What we offer
- Work in our Stamford workshop alongside the team that makes the stones
- Meaningful equity in a founding-era company
- Relocation support for the right candidate
